Saint-François is a Laval neighbourhood named after Saint François de Sales. After Duvernay, it is Laval’s second largest neighbourhood. Despite amalgamating with thirteen other municipalities to form the city of Laval in 1965, Saint-François continues to be mostly agricultural. It sits at the junction of the Rivers Mille-Îles and Prairies, and is bordered by the neighbourhoods of Auteuil and Duvernay. Saint-François offers four elementary schools and a high school.

The construction and opening of the A25 Bridge in May 2011 (renamed the Olivier-Charbonneau Bridge in 2012) sparked controversy as local residents and environmentalists heavily criticized the destruction of the area’s wetlands.
