LaSalle was originally incorporated as a city in 1912 before becoming a borough of Montreal in 2002. The Lachine Rapids, which are located on the territory of LaSalle, were mentioned by Jacques Cartier as far back as 1535.
LaSalle is located in the southwestern part of the island, with a number of beautiful heritage homes lining its streets. It’s also the site of the Cégep André-Laurendeau and Collège Saint-Louis, which offers an international education diploma, as well as the Cavalier-de-LaSalle high school and several other French and English educational institutions. LaSalle also has a hospital, a CLSC and the LaSalle residential centre, along with several churches of various denominations.
