Pointe-Claire
Pointe-Claire is located on the shores of Lake Saint-Louis and is symbolized by its mill near the Saint-Joachim church. While the city has long been called Pointe-Claire, this name was only made official in 1911. The late 19th century brought to Pointe-Claire the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway and the Grand Trunk – predecessor to CN – along with considerable growth.
Today, the city boasts an aquatic centre equipped with three swimming pools, one of which is Olympic-size. Several Olympic athletes have trained at this site, including Anne Montminy, the two-time Olympic diving medalist who brought home a bronze and silver medal from the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.
