Salaberry-de-Valleyfield is a city of over 40,000 people who are often referred to in French as “Campivallensiens”. It’s also considered the capital of the Suroît federal electoral district. Since 2010, the city has been home to Ohneka, an outdoor multimedia water theatre where fountain displays come to life with stunning light and laser shows. This attraction draws some 40,000 people each year.
Because of its demographic heft, Salaberry-de-Valleyfield has also attracted a number of educational institutions, including the Collège de Valleyfield. Since 1938, the city has played host to the popular annual Valleyfield regatta – one of the biggest regattas in all of North America.
