The municipality of Albanel, with an area of 198 km2, is located north of Lac Saint-Jean, along the national road 169. Located between plains and river, Albanel is proud of the vastness of agricultural land and of the magnificent watercourse that borders it, the Mistassini River.
The locality also enjoys the popularity of the Véloroute des Bleuets which passes through its territory as well as the associated cycling network “Au fil des rivières” which leads directly to the 9th Falls of the Mistassini River. In winter, the Association des sportif d'Albanel, which operates and promotes this territory, welcomes ski touring and skating enthusiasts, as well as snowmobilers who take the Trans-Québec trail.
Albanel is a well-provided municipality with services such as: grocery store, convenience store, restaurant, rooms for rent, garages and mechanical workshops, gas station, hairdressers and barbers, jewelry and pharmacy. All things considered, economic life is flourishing there since it has 131 companies that provide 670 jobs. Albanel has always offered an attractive family life in order to energize the environment. A school daycare service as well as 6 family daycare centers facilitate work/family balance for young parents in order to contribute to a better quality of life.
The Municipality is at the forefront of wastewater treatment and water supply techniques with its treatment plant and filtration plant commissioned in 2005. The Municipality benefits from the fire protection service governed by the Giant for the western sector and by the city of Dolbeau-Mistassini for the eastern sector.
