Beaconsfield is located along the shores of Lake Saint-Louis near the southwestern tip of the Island of Montreal. It’s population of 20,000 benefits from the area’s prized geographical location, which is home to not one, but two yacht clubs: the Lord Reading Yacht Club and the Beaconsfield Yacht Club.
Beaconsfield owes its name to former British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli, Earl of Beaconsfield. The city briefly merged with Montreal from 2002 and 2006 before regaining its independence. Local residents are served by a commuter train that stops at the Beaurepaire and Beaconsfield stations. It’s worth noting that Beaurepaire was the former name of Beaconsfield. Today, Beaurepaire is a neighbourhood in Beaconsfield.
