Île-Bizard is a large island belonging to the Montreal borough of L’Île-Bizard-Sainte-Geneviève. Located to the northwest of the Island of Montreal, Île-Bizard’s origins date back to 1678 when Governor Frontenac granted the island as a seigneury to Jacques Bizard. Île-Bizard remained a village municipality until 1995, when it briefly became an independent city before merging with Sainte-Geneviève in 2002. The island boasts a nature park with a footbridge crossing a swamp where you can contemplate nature up close. It’s also home to three golf courses – including the oldest golf club in North America, the prestigious Royal Montreal.

Sainte-Geneviève is located on the West Island of Montreal and has been part of the borough of L’Île-Bizard-Sainte-Geneviève since 2002. At various points of its history, Sainte-Geneviève encompassed the territories of Roxboro, Dollard-des-Ormeaux and Pierrefonds. The Municipality of the Village of Sainte-Geneviève was created in 1859 and exactly one century later, was incorporated as a city. The church of Sainte-Geneviève is a fitting example of the religious heritage that can be found on the island of Montreal. Sainte-Geneviève is also home to the Cégep Gérald-Godin, named after former Quebec poet and politician.
